One、Heat exchanger
A heat exchanger is a piece of equipment built for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another.
1.Types of heat exchanger:
(1)War-type heat exchanger
The war-type heat exchanger is the one composed of multiple, thin, slightly-separated plates that have very large surface areas and fluid flow passages for heat transfer.
- Jacketed heat-exchanger
- Immerged coil heat exchanger
- Cascade heat exchanger
- Tube-in-tube heat exchanger
- Plate heat exchanger
- Shell and tube heat exchanger
- Double tube-sheet heat exchanger/P-type heat exchanger
(2)Mixing heat exchanger
Direct contact heat exchangers involve heat transfer between hot and cold streams of two phases in the absence of a separating wall.
- Cooling tower
- Gas wash tower
- Spray type heat exchanger
- Injection condenser
(3)Regenerative heat exchanger
A regenerative heat exchanger, is a type of heat exchanger where the flow through the heat exchanger is cyclical and periodically changes direction, which mixes the two fluid flows while a countercurrent exchanger maintains them separated. While the fluid entering each end, the temperature should remain constantly. The regenerative heat exchanger gives a considerable net savings in energy, since most of the heat energy is reclaimed nearly in a thermodynamically reversible way.
- Markets
1)Industry
Heat exchangers are widely used in industry both for cooling and heating large scale industrial processes.
- Waste water treatment
- Refrigeration systems
- Wine-brewery industry
- Petroleum industry
2) aircraft
In commercial aircraft heat exchangers are used to take heat from the engine’s oil system to heat cold fuel. This improves fuel efficiency, as well as reduces the possibility of water entrapped in the fuel freezing in components.
